Bruce Willis

The actor and musician Bruce Willis is well known for his wise-cracking or hard-edged characters, often in spectacular action films. In total, he's appeared in films that have grossed more than $2.5 billion dollars. Walter Bruce Willis was born on the 19th of March, 1955, in Idar-Oberstein in West Germany, to a German mother, Marlene Kassel, and an American father, David Andrew Willis (from Carneys Point, New Jersey) They were living at an United States military base. His family moved to U.S. soon after he was born. Willis was raised in Penns Grove by his mother who worked for an establishment that was a bank, while his father who was a welder employed in a factory and welder. Willis was drawn to drama during his high school. While working at the New York City café, he was allegedly "discovered". He then went on to appear in a variety of off-Broadway shows. One night, Willis worked as a bartender, and was spotted by a casting manager who liked his personality. He was in need of bartenders for one small part in a film. Willis tried out for a variety of film roles, but was not acknowledged. He was eventually offered the role as David Addison, a private eye, along with Cybill Shepherd, in the romantic comedy series Moonlighting (1985). The sarcastic and wise-cracking P.I. is viewed by some as a dry run for the part of the hard-boiled NYC detective "John McClane" in the cult film Die Hard (1988), in which Willis the character alone fought a gang of ruthless international thieves inside a Los Angeles skyscraper. In Die Hard 2 (1990), he reprised the character. A group of rebellious Special Forces soldiers is trying to return a corrupt South American general. They are located in Washington's Dulles International Airport. A sequel, Die Hart with the vengeance (1995), was a smash success. It starred Samuel L. Jackson as an unrepentant Harlem shop owner who is required to aid McClane during a terrorist attack that occurred during a hot New York day.
