Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris, France, to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. She moved to Oxfordshire when she was five and attended the Dragon School. Emma was aware from the age of she was six that wanted to become an actor. For several years she studied at the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch which was where she learned dancing, singing, acting and many other things. At ten years old Emma was already involved acting in Stagecoach productions as well as school productions. The casting process began with Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (192001) The film adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s bestselling novel. Casting agents found Emma through her Oxford theater teacher. After eight continuous auditions David Heyman revealed to Emma and Rupert Grint (other applicants) that they were selected to play Hermione Gringer, Harry Potter, and Ron Weasley. The release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's film debut. The film was the most successful film of 2001 in terms of weekend and opening day sales. Critics praised the film and the performances of the actors who were just starting out. The Daily Telegraph, a British newspaper with a substantial circulation, praised her performance as "admirable". Emma was awarded five awards for her role in the film, including the Young Artist Award, for the Best Young Actress In a Film. Film. Emma was among the most well-known actors following the movie's success. Hermione Granger continued to be her role for almost ten years in the Harry Potter films. Emma received two Critics' Choice Awards nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
